Some more of the Chicago drill. Bang-Bang.

  1. Uh, yeah... Glorify black boys killing black boys. Glorify the real drug war. Glorify killing innocent by-standers who witness drug war crimes. Reagan is laughing in his grave. Brilliant! Or: pure stupidity.

  2. There is a fine line between being critical, engaging with the problems in the community, rapping about inner-city violence, and saying what a shame it is, and pathologically, hatefully, egotistically, actually killing people with no shame. These kids fall into the latter category, and it's nothing to be pleased about. In addition, just because a bunch of young Glibertarians hype a bunch of hateful music written by a bunch of young hotheads, doesn't necessarily mean it bangs or drills.

  3. First things first, get off your high horse. There is a lot of perspective missing from your argument. This music isnt hateful nor is it "stupid". These are young kids are from one of the most dangerous neighborhoods in the country (please read up on the current state of Chicago's South Side, its been a national news story for much of the summer, violence is out of control). The claim that I or these kids are glorifying the violence is a bit of a misunderstanding. Chief Keef, Fredo Santana, Waka Flocka etc. all may seem stupid to white suburbanites (like myself) but really they depict the struggle of young black youth better than any "conscious" rapper I've ever heard. Keef and his crew are mostly under 18, most of the violence perpetrated by people in their neighborhoods are also people under 18. What they rap about is everyday life for lots of Americas youth. Life can be violent, cruel and unfair and rappers like this speak to that reality better than a rapper who believes he is above said reality. Your comment "ronald Reagan laughing in his grave" is offensive to me, Its no secret that the reagan administration ignored (to say the least) black America but to make light of it and claim that rapping about the reality that is a result of reagan's, j. edgar hoover's and other white leaders policies is "ignorant" is a bit infuriating to me. I hope you feel good about your rant because it exposed your ignorance to me. No one who posts to SJFM is from the hood (or anything even close to the hood) and to have someone from the blog post something like you did really REALLY bothers me. Secondly this is a music blog with lots of different tastes, if you dont like someones posts why would you bother critiquing it? Also Drill is the genre of music and "bang-bang" is an often used onomatopoetic term within the genre.

  4. There is no room for this type of criticism within the slow jamz community so please refrain from saying such thing in the future. Everyones music taste should be accepted and treated with respect. Something you have failed to do today.

  5. Dang, an SJFM Beef? That's some shit I Don't like! Maybe both ya'll otta lay off the Drill and just...Chill! Freal tho, I hope neither of ya'll will be shy about posting. The divergent voices make SJFM what it is -- that said I think the music can speak for itself in the future.

    Thanks for posting Blokes!
